KICA Governance (Continued from Previous)
KICA Thrives Under New Model
Since the model was reaffirmed and fully implemented over the
past year, KICA managers and staff have been able to focus fully on
association operations. This renewed focus has resulted in a number
of major initiatives and projects such as Kiawah Cares, the Kiawah
Shuttle Service by KICA, the KICA Amenities Plan (see back cover
for important information on upcoming meetings), the West Beach
Revitalization project, and much more.
"I really applaud those who began this process nearly 10 years ago,”
said KICA COO Jimmy Bailey. “They had the foresight to know that
if progress was going to be made on the really big strategic issues, we
couldn't have the board bogged down in day-to-day decisions. Not
only does an empowered staff get things done more efficiently, it also
provides much clearer accountability measures from the COO all the
way down the line."
While the evolution of the Policy Governance Model in KICA has
been a long, involved process, the positive impact of the process on
the association, property owners and Kiawah Island as a whole have
made the hard work worthwhile.
