The new COO would have greater authority and autonomy, allowing them to fully direct association operations, thereby giving the board more time to focus on strategic planning. A firm was hired to conduct a nation-wide search. Ultimately, however, the best candidate was found right in the Lowcountry, and Jimmy Bailey, previously at Daniel Island, was hired as the new KICA COO. Board, Governance Committee Complete Process As Weaver’s term ended and John Connolly was appointed as chair, the evolution of the Policy Governance Model neared its completion. Connolly and the board tasked the Governance Committee, chaired by Director Dan Hubbard, with finalizing this process. Developing the Strategic Plan As Sula transitioned off of the board in 2007, Warren was selected as chair and continued to move the process forward. With the foundations of the new governance model in place, the Strategic Planning Committee began its work. The committee consisted of all seven board directors as well as the chairs of the five (at the time) major committees: Amenities Planning, Environment/Services Planning, Finance, Human Resources and Major Repairs.
