Talking about astrology brings up various thoughts. The question is why do people want to know more about astrology, is it the desire to know more about the future?

Astrology is a science that gets understood more as a person goes on the journey of life and compares the events that take place to the position of each planet in a person’s uniquely designed chart. Each chart is different and is created based on a person’s birth date, time, and location. Charts are created based on how planets were positioned at the exact point of birth. That is why no two people can have the same chart. Even twins are born one after the other so their charts would be different.

A chart created based on details of a person birth is called a natal chart. When looking at a chart, the most basic format would be a natal chart with the position of planets today to see what is and will be happening to in a person’s life at a given time. This is called a natal + transits chart.

In more detail in understanding a chart, here are some specifics. The most popular reference for Sun sign is Zodiac sign, which most people are familiar with by referring to their birthday. I will be referring to Zodiac signs as Sun signs.

Another important aspect of a chart is houses where each Sun sign and your natal + transit planets exist. These houses have different purposes and meanings. The following is a list of all the houses and what aspect of life they represent.

Houses in a Chart (the number represents the House number):

#1: self, life, vitality

#2: money, poverty, values

#3: siblings, short trips, communicative efforts

#4: parents, home, “end of all matters”

#5: children, lovers, creativity, leisure activities

#6: assistants, colleagues, health matters

#7: committed relationships (spouse, business partners), open enemies

#8: death, money of the dead, business deals, other people’s money, sex, surgery

#9: devoted to religion, long distance travel, publishing, moral and legal matters, higher education

#10: fame, career, honors, advancement

#11: “good fortune”, platonic relationships, friendships

#12: hidden enemies, subconscious, intuition, certain medical treatments, efforts to heal body and mind, secrets, all things than happen behind the scene in confidence, “self-undoing”

In the end, astrology is a combination of planets, zodiac signs, and houses. The position of these 3 factors and how they “aspect” each other explains a person’s personality and what activity will take place when. Aspects are a more complex subject, which will be explained in more detail at another time. For a brief interlude, aspects are when a planet conjuncts (at the same degree as another planet), squares (90 degree angle), trines (60 degrees, 120 degrees), and is opposite to another planet. There are a few more aspects which are less commonly used.

This is a lot of information to swallow. Just remember, it takes time to learn something new and get the hang of how astrology explains the events in our life.
