SESSION 14: LIFE PLANNING AND GOAL SETTING
OBJECTIVES
The following objectives are set for Session 14:
At the end of the session, the women should
-
be aware of short- and long-term goals for the future;

be focused on realism and maintaining hope; and
-
feel empowered to take control of their lives.
PREPARATION
Prepare for the discussion. It is important that you take yourself mentally through the
process of the type of questions that can be raised and reflect on how to facilitate the
group, so that the core concepts can be addressed. As this is the final individual session,
members should be given a chance to discuss any issues they may have with the group
ending before the joint sessions, and the members should be encouraged to continue
meeting and supporting one another. Remind the mothers of the ten joint sessions with
their children that follow the individual sessions.
MATERIALS
The following will be needed for this session:

Paper and pen to take the register and for notes on the session

A3 papers and crayons to draw with

OUTLINE OF THE SESSION

Acknowledge the group, welcoming and apologies.

Open the group session according to the group norms set, for example, did the
group decide to open with a prayer. Before commencing with the group session,
briefly discuss the previous session.
