Child Group -Welcome. -Feeling thermometer. -Climbing down the Tree exercise. -Explain to the children that they are going to draw faces with their mothers, make masks and then they are going to play Morabaraba. Tell the children that their mothers will explain to them what to do in this session. -Explain the activities in the joint session and the fun element behind it. Allow time for questions. JOINT GROUPS (60 minutes) Activity 1: Drawing emotions (10 minutes) (refer to instructions in the mother session). Activity 2: Emotion masks (20 minutes) (refer to instructions in the mother session). Activity 3: Morabaraba game (30 minutes) (refer to instructions in the mother session). Note to facilitators: Carefully observe the activities and take note of every child-mother pair's verbal and non-verbal behaviour. Use the main objective of each activity as the focus point for your observations. Activity 4: SEPARATE GROUPS (20 minutes) Mother Group Discussion: - What did you learn from today's activities? - Did you experience any difficulty with any of the activities? - Did your child experience any difficulty with any of the activities? - Did you enjoy any of the activities, and if so, what made them enjoyable? - Did any of the activities help you to talk with your child? - How would you be able to have fun with your child at home? Please name a few examples. - Why does a parent have to be able to identify (read) his or her child's emotions? - Do you think it is important to tell your child how you feel? Why? - Do you think it is important for a parent to play with his or her children? Note to facilitator: Please remind the mothers that this was the 21st session, and that we have 3 sessions left. Remind them of the party and certificates during the last session. Child Group 1. Discussion: - What was the activity you enjoyed most? Why? - What activity did you not enjoy? Why? - What did you learn from today's activities? 2. Remind the children in a gentle way that this was the 3rd last session before the group session ends.
