OUTLINE OF THE SESSION MOTHER GROUP - 10 minutes - Welcome. - Acknowledge the group, welcoming and apologies. - Open the group session according to the group norms set, for example, did the group decide to open with a prayer. Before commencing with the group session, briefly discuss the previous session. - Get feedback from the group on anything they feel that they want to share with group. Ask about any highlights or negative - Meeting with the group of mothers to get feedback and to discuss the activities in session 18. experiences. CHILD GROUP - 10 minutes - Climbing up the Tree exercise - Feeling thermometer - Discuss the activities for session 20 JOINT GROUPS - 75 minutes (10 minutes) Hand out the digital photos that were taken in session 19. Give the mothers a chance to discuss their photos with their children and with each other. - Put the photo into the memory box. (30 minutes) Make a family tree - Ask the mother-child pair to first write down the names of all their family members and then to sketch the outline of a tree with branches on A3 paper. Fill in all the names of the family members on the branches. - Ask the mothers to tell their children about all the family members that are included on the family tree. - Put the family tree into the memory box. (20 minutes) Writing a poem or song together - Ask the mothers to write a poem or to compose a song with their children and to sing/recite it together. - Put the song/poem into the memory box. (10 minutes) Likes and dislikes (e.g., clothes, food, movies) - Ask the mothers to draw or to cut pictures out of magazines of all the things they like. - Ask the mothers to discuss with their children the things they like. - Ask the mothers to draw or to cut pictures out of magazines of all the things they dislike. - Ask the mothers to discuss with their children the things they dislike. - Put the picture and/or drawings into the memory box SEPARATE GROUPS (10 minutes) Mother Group -Ask the mothers the following questions (please take notes): What activity did they enjoy most during today's session and why did they enjoy it?
