CORE CONCEPTS The following are core concepts that should be addressed during this session: - Interaction between mother and child - Interaction between mother-child pairs - Communication skills - Being comfortable with each other - Enhancing a strong bond between mother and child - Enhancing self-awareness - Cooperation - Structure - Engagement - Nurturing - Setting reasonable challenges OUTLINE OF THE SESSION SEPARATE GROUPS (20 minutes) Mother Group: - Welcome everyone to the session. - Ask for feedback on the previous session and their experiences of the session. - Explain the session and how the events are going to follow each other up. - Explain the reason behind the (MIM) session and explain every activity in detail. Note to facilitator: Suggest to the mothers that they may ask for the activities to be role played by the facilitators if they are not clear on how to do the activities BACKGROUND FOR THE FACILITATOR The activities allow parents to practise important patterns of interaction between themselves and their child in fun ways. The joint activities may help the parent to see what works and what does not work in their relationship and how to accommodate each other. Children (Refer to Activity 2 for explanation of individual activities).
