In the morning he looked at the word in his hat several times while he was walking to school. But when the test came Thabo Bear got very confused when he was asked to spell Pencil. Is it with an "S" or a "C" he asked himself? He really couldn't remember, so he quickly looked in his hat to remind him. When Mr. Owl marked the test, Thabo Bear got all his words right and so he got a special Parker pen. He was so happy and couldn't wait to go home and show his parents. Little Jenny Tots saw Thabo Bear looking at the word in his hat during the test and after class she told him that it wasn't fair that he got a pen because he cheated. Thabo Bear said that he never cheated and that he merely forgot how to spell the pencil word, so he just checked if it is with an "S" or a "C". Jenny Tots said, "Thabo Bear, that is called cheating" and walked away. Thabo Bear was so happy that he had received the special pen from Mr Owl and he really wanted to show his parents, but he realised that Little Jenny Tots was right and that he had to go and tell Mr Owl what he had done and to give the pen back. So off he went to see Mr Owl and he explained what happened during the test. Mr Owl was very proud that Thabo Bear was so honest and realised that the lesson he learnt about honesty was more important than the spelling lesson.
