Teacher Profile Du Jinghui: Teaching Through Poetry The best time was; When you were on a podium, while I was in my chair; I felt like I was free; I always remembered to collect the homework. To remind you to try different outfits; You are the idol of so many; I am a straight-A student. Now…You put your red pen to rest; No more reciting the texts; No more reading the prose; Farewell to the Book of Songs, to the Tang poems. As you turn off the class lights one final time; You begin a whole new chapter. Ms. Du Jinghui’s retirement moved one student to put pen to paper and write her this touching poem. Her seemingly quiet and calm dignity, however, belie this teacher’s perseverance and strength of character that surface through her unique way of teaching. Ms. Du decided to continue to dedicate herself to education past retirement and joined Keystone as a middle school teacher after having taught for 26 years at schools across China.
