It all started in 1974, when
JC Dobbs established The
Legendary Dobbs. The venue
formerly known as, JC Dobbs and
then The Pon ac Grille, originally
opened in 1974. It is recognized as a
staple in the Philadelphia music
scene, rich in history, and tradi on.
This fantas c venue has become
Philadelphia's most iconic Rock N
Roll bar since the 1970's. Many
famous acts, both on a local and
na onal scale have come across
their stage. Famous acts included
Bo Diddley, George Thorogood &
The Delaware Destroyers, Pearl
Jam, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins,
Green Day, Rage Against The
Machine, Tool, and many many
more.
On 2/1/2014 ownership
changed over to local music
celebri es Nina and Gary Rumpff.
What's most interes ng is when the
ownership changed almost the
en re staff carried over to the new
ownership. Talk about dedica on!
Now, let me back up here and tell
you the amazing story of this
journey star ng with the owners.
Nina met Gary at the WMMR-BQ, 4
years ago.
The lineup included Alice in
Chains, Fuel and STP. He proposed
to her the following year at WMMRBQ . They have been married since
July 9, 2011. Both aspiring
musicians, they always have been
major contributors to the local
scene. Nina has been playing
drums since the age of 47. Gary has
been playing drums since the
1980's and at one point he came to
a stands ll, and then started again.
In August of 2012, they formed
NinjaBull Entertainment Solu ons
with ONE main goal, which was to
help independent musicians gain
fans. In all the years that I have
known them , I have never seen
these guys give up. They support my
dream of #effortneverdies. They
have helped many local and
na onal bands such as Citadel,
Honor, Black Sun Rising, Old Man
Savage, Cyanide Saints, Machines of
Penalty, SickTrust. Na onals: Eye
Empire, Straight Line S tch and
Mindset Evolu on. This is a great
venue to check out if you are in
Philadelphia and would like to
check out some great Rock N Roll
music.
