Benefit changes
- We can help you!
Benefit cap changes
If your circumstances
change it may
mean your benefits
change too.
If you’re affected by the
benefit cap your Housing
Benefit or Universal
Credit will be reduced
after autumn 2016.
Our Money Matters
Team is here to help.
They can talk you
through changes
to your benefits
and ensure you’re
getting everything
you’re entitled to.
The DWP has sent letters
to everyone who may lose
benefit payments under
the new rules. If you’ve
received one of these
letters the Income Team
would really like to speak to
you about how we can help.
Please call us on 0800 121
60 60. We’re here to help
you manage the change
by looking at budgeting,
grants, Discretionary
Housing Payment and
employability skills.
More changes to benefits
are coming. Please keep an
eye on our website for the
most up to date news. Or
call your Income Officer
on 0800 121 60 60.
The biggest benefit
change that may affect
you in the coming months
is Universal Credit (UC).
Job Centres are now
asking all single
claimants who would
have claimed Job
Seekers Allowance
to now claim UC.
From December 2016,
anyone in Hastings
reporting a change of
circumstances will be
moved to Universal Credit.
The graphic above shows the levels of the benefit
cap from Autumn 2016. The current levels are £500
for couples with children and lone parents and
£350 for single people.
Saving you money
The Money Matters Team has lots of
handy ways to help you save money:
zz If you are on a low income or on
certain benefits we can help you apply
to get your water bill reduced
zz If you’ve got a debt for gas and
electricity arrears, there may be grants
available.
Please don’t feel embarrassed by
asking for advice and help to access
financial support.
