Marketing
Key Information
Why study this course?
You’ll explore the roles of individual and business consumers in society,
and the impact of marketing on the culture of businesses, governments
and more.
Marketing at Keele encourages you to think independently and to
challenge assumptions made about marketing theory and practice.
This means you’ll develop a more informed view about the impact of
marketing on the economy, and on the interaction between marketing
and culture. You’ll explore markets and consumers, their behaviours,
and how to understand and communicate with them. We aim to develop
your research skills and help you learn how to plan and implement
successful marketing strategies. You’ll also develop an understanding
of the application of marketing to not-for-profit organisations as well
as commerce. There are opportunities to explore branding and digital
marketing, which have very rapidly evolving skill requirements.

Katherine Warrilow
Marketing and Psychology,
graduated 2010
After graduating I set up my own
business, Cupcake Yourself, which
is still going strong five years later.
My marketing degree definitely
helps as I learnt everything from
how to stand out with social media
and branding to how to make your
brand desirable. Keele helped me
get onto a government funded
scheme to help students set up
their own business. I got help with
everything from taxes to accounts
and got a grant to set up my
website and get equipment. I have
the best job in the world and I have
Keele to thank for it.
