your degree

Loans for tuition
The following information is for UK and EU students only.

Tuition fees
Eligible UK students can also take out a maintenance
loan to help you pay for things like accommodation, food,
transport and books. This maximum amount available
depends on household income and where you’re studying

• The Foundation Year – £9,000
Funding for NHS courses
(UK Students only)
• All full-time undergraduate degrees – £9,000 a year
(subject to approval)
• The General Foundation Year – £5,500 a year
(no financial support from the government)
Scholarships and bursaries
These are awards from Keele University that you
don’t need to repay. There’s no need to apply, if you meet
the eligibility criteria you will be automatically allocated
the award:
• Keele Excellence Scholarship
This is paid in cash and is worth up to £6000 over
the duration of your studies. The amount you receive
will depend on your A level grades (or equivalent
qualifications) and your course. Each year you’ll
receive £2,000 if you get AAA in your A levels;
£1,000 if you get AAB; and £500 for ABB.*
• Keele University Bursary (UK students only)
This is an award of £1000 (in cash) per year.
To receive this award you must have a household
income of £25,000 or below and be liable for
the full £9,000 annual tuition fee.*
Eligible UK and EU students are entitled to apply for full
tuition fee loans which are paid straight to the university.
You do not have to pay anything until after you have
graduated and are earning over £21,000 per annum.

Loans for living costs (UK students only)
If you’re doing an NHS-funded course (including Medicine,
Nursing and Midwifery, and Physiotherapy), you should
apply direct to the NHS at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/students
Unfortunately, this means you won’t be eligible for any of
our bursaries.
Additional costs
Some of our courses involve additional costs which
aren’t covered by our tuition fees. For the most
