Health Foundation Year
Key Information
Why study this course?
The Health Foundation Year offers an opportunity for students to enter
a degree course in the Faculty of Health who do not meet the necessary
criteria for direct entry. This is often because they have not studied
the subjects required or because they have gained non-traditional
qualifications. The course will provide you with the requisite science
knowledge, enhance your study skills and give you an introduction to
the employability skills required by health professionals.
Indicative modules
Each programme consists of a
set of modules that have been
approved by the relevant School
of Health. You will take a mixture
of core skills modules together
with academic modules related to
your chosen degree programme.
What will this mean
for my future?
A Health Foundation Year allows
progression to the following
degree subjects: Adult Nursing,
Children’s Nursing, Learning
Disability Nursing, Medicine,
Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery,
Pharmacy, Physiotherapy,
Social Work.*
