Undergraduate Prospectus 2017 | Dual Honours Film Studies and Media, Communications and Culture Why study this course? This challenging dual honours programme combines theoretical approaches and practical hands-on experience in a lively and friendly learning environment. Media and Film Studies are the study of communication forms that have become central to every aspect of our lives. You will study a range of cultural texts such as film, television, photography, advertisements, magazines, digital media and news production. As part of the programme, you will investigate the relationship between historical and cultural movements and media and film production, how these are products of their time but in turn affect society. You will get the opportunity to produce cultural artefacts of your own through our series of practical modules ranging from photography to producing video and magazines online. We also provide opportunities to take work placements through our links to the creative and media industries. Media and film students work in a designated building with laboratory space, studios, kit, recreational space and a screening room.
