Undergraduate Prospectus 2017 | Dual Honours
Film Studies and Media,
Communications and Culture
Why study this course?
This challenging dual honours programme combines theoretical
approaches and practical hands-on experience in a lively and friendly
learning environment.
Media and Film Studies are the study of communication forms that
have become central to every aspect of our lives. You will study a range
of cultural texts such as film, television, photography, advertisements,
magazines, digital media and news production. As part of the
programme, you will investigate the relationship between historical
and cultural movements and media and film production, how these
are products of their time but in turn affect society. You will get the
opportunity to produce cultural artefacts of your own through our
series of practical modules ranging from photography to producing
video and magazines online. We also provide opportunities to take
work placements through our links to the creative and media industries.
Media and film students work in a designated building with laboratory
space, studios, kit, recreational space and a screening room.
