unveiled to experts from around the world,
which helps doctors to more rapidly
assess the best treatment plans for
pulmonary emboli.
Measuring black holes
Astronomers at Keele helped to discover
that the central supermassive black hole
of a recently discovered galaxy is 30 times
larger than expected. Astrophysicists at
Keele are also playing a key role in a
world-class project to find extrasolar
planets by monitoring hundreds of
thousands of stars every night.

A geophysics team from Keele solved
a 660 year old mystery when they
investigated London Crossrail’s discovery
of a mass grave from the Black Death
in the 1300s.
Regenerating bone tissue
Researchers from Keele helped to discover
that magnetic nanoparticles coated with
targeting proteins can cause bone to
regenerate. It’s great news, because current
repair methods are invasive and painful.
