You can take a single semester taster course or decide to continue with your language studies over two or three years. Most Keele students taking a series of language elective modules have the exciting opportunity to have the language successfully studied named in the degree title ‘with competency in (Language)’. Being able to speak a foreign language is a huge advantage, not only for jobs that will have international contacts but for all careers, and the enhanced degree title recognising language achievement can be a valuable asset to students’ CVs. Summer language and culture courses abroad If you successfully complete one semester of language study, you will also have the opportunity to practise and improve your language skills during the summer vacation, by participating in a summer study programme at one of our selected partner universities abroad. Hugely popular language and culture courses are currently on offer in Japan (Kyoto), Spain (Madrid), Russia (Tver), France (Lyon) and Germany (Lüneburg). The courses are typically two to four weeks long and combine intensive language training with a wide range of culture and leisure activities, such as excursions or films and sports events.
