Teaching and assessment
Modules are taught through a combination of lectures, small group
tutorials, laboratory work plus a variety of project based activities.
In addition you will engage in crime scene examination exercises
and prepare illustrated reports on this work. The laboratory work
includes the analysis of evidence from crime scenes and the
defence of your conclusions in a mock court. You will undertake
many laboratory analyses of materials, including data analysis, and
report on your findings. Over the first three years, assessment is by
examination plus a variety of in-course assignments such as class
tests, laboratory reports, posters and oral presentations The final
year of the MSci is wholly assessed by coursework including many
exercises to develop your professional skills, culminating in your
submission of a project report and portfolio based on the research
work you have completed in the final year.
