POSTGRADUATE PROSPECTUS 2016 How to apply Postgraduate taught course applications Pre-arrival information Entry requirements Visa Requirements So you have made up your mind to apply and you want to make an application. We have tried to make the process as easy as possible. Although of course, we do have to meet all legal requirements, so there is some form filling and submission of certificates that we have to ask you to do for us! We have tried to make the application process as easy as possible through our online application form. The particular entry requirements for each course are on the Keele website www.keele.ac.uk/postgraduate As a general rule, you will need the equivalent of a UK honours degree at second-class standard or higher, and an appropriate English language qualification. We will be happy to advise on the acceptability of your qualifications before you apply. English language requirements Applicants must show evidence of English language competence, for example GCSE English Language at grade C or above. International students must obtain an IELTS score of at least 6.5 (with no sub-test lower than 5.5) or hold a previous degree which has been taught and examined in the UK, unless the specific entry for the course indicates otherwise. If you are an international student, further information about immigration and visa requirements can be found at www.keele.ac.uk/visa. If you apply to Keele and are offered a place, further information about what happens next; including how to apply for a visa will be given in your offer letter. International Study Centre If you are an international student and you find that you do not match Keele’s postgraduate degree entrance requirements, you may be eligible to take the pre-master’s programme at the International Study Centre www.keele.ac.uk/isc How to pay For a comparison of IELTS scores to other English language qualifications please see www.keele.ac.uk/pg-entryrequirements Tuition fees can be paid in a maximum of two instalments. For September starters, payments are due in October and January. For students living in university accommodation, payment is split into three instalments of 40% in October, 40% in January and 20% in May. If you have taken an IELTS test and do not quite meet our English language requirements, you may be eligible for one of our pre-sessional English Language courses. Further information can be found at www.keele.ac.uk/presessional The exact dates will be specified on the invoice you receive once you have enrolled. Keele University accepts payments by the following methods: cash, cheque, credit or debit card, bank transfer, online through E:Vision or by direct debit. Making an application Sponsored students must provide written confirmation from their sponsor of the amount of funding they are receiving, together with full address details and any reference that needs to be quoted on the invoice. You can make an online application from each course page via the “apply” button on our website. There is no application fee. Please ensure that all your supporting information is uploaded at the point of application as this will enable us to process your application promptly. We will require copies of your academic and English Language qualifications, a personal statement, details of two referees and for international applicants, a copy of your passport and any current or previous UK visas. We advise that applications for courses that start in September should, if possible, be made by the end of June at the very latest. Some courses may have a specified earlier closing date; this will be noted on the relevant course page on our website. If you want to live on campus it is particularly important that you apply early. We receive a large number of applications from all over the world and we do our very best to get them processed quickly. You will receive an acknowledgement of your application within 24 hours. We aim to process applications and dispatch our decision on your application within ten working days. There may be a delay processing your application if the information provided on your form is incomplete, or if we are waiting for copies of qualifications. We will send this out from July 2016 for students starting their course in September 2016. In addition, your school will contact you about starting your course and any preparations you need to make.
