POSTGRADUATE PROSPECTUS 2016
Money – what’s
and where can I
Like all universities in the UK, there is an annual
tuition fee to cover the cost of delivering the
course, maintaining the learning environment
and developing new courses and expertise.
The fee covers the cost of your tuition, training,
examinations and assessments, graduation and
membership of the National Union of Students,
and you must pay at the start of your programme,
in full or in two instalments. The fee depends on
whether you are classed as an overseas student
for fees purposes. The criteria for definition are set
by the British Government. For further information,
a brief guide is available at www.ukcisa.org.uk
It is important that you plan correctly how much you
will be spending over the duration of your course.
For most students, tuition fees typically rise a few
percent each year, but your living expenses may
vary. Tuition fees for overseas students on research
degrees are fixed and are not currently subject to
annual rises.
Postgraduate taught master’s
Details of course fees can be found on the website
at www.keele.ac.uk/studentfunding/tuitionfees
Please note fees will usually be subject to an
annual increase each year, however, the fee increase
will be no more than 5% for 2016 entry. For the
most up to date information please refer to
www.keele.ac.uk/studentfunding/tuitionfees
A new government loan scheme will be available
for UK postgraduate students from September 2016.
Details have yet to be confirmed, but it is expected
that loans of up to £10,000 will be available for
students under 30 years old wishing to undertake
a postgraduate taught master’s in any subject.
Postgraduate research degrees
The standard annual course fees can be found
on the website www.keele.ac.uk/pgresearch
Please note fees will usually be subject to an annual
increase each year, however the fee increase will be
no more than 5% for 2016 entry.

Fees for international students are normally fixed
throughout your course but if this were to change,
the university will not increase the fees by more than
5% in any given academic year during your period
of ‘standard’* study.
*This does not take in to account any additional years
of study due to academic failure.
