Overview
The MSc programme in Cognitive
Psychology is designed to prepare
psychology graduates for the next
stage of their psychology career.
Many of our MSc graduates go
on to register for a PhD or begin
their first psychology post in the
workplace. The course provides
taught content and research
training in a range of areas of
psychology building on areas of
staff research expertise.
Keele has a vibrant, well
established and expanding
community of researchers in
cognitive psychology. You will
benefit from their expertise
across a wide range of areas with
strengths in memory research,
cognitive control processes,
attention and a wide range of
influences on human cognitive
performance. MSc students are
made to feel part of this research
culture both through the formal
modules and through involvement
in research seminars and meetings.
Additional information
This course is open to graduates
with a first or upper secondclass degree in psychology or
overseas equivalent. Individuals
without such qualifications but
with other relevant experience
should contact the Course
Director to discuss whether they
would benefit from the course.
International students are very
welcome. We require IELTS 7.0.
The course is assessed
through written coursework,
unseen examination, verbal
presentation of research and
independent research written
up as a dissertation.
The programme addresses
written and communication
skills, independent learning skills,
data analysis, critical reflection
and critical evaluation. You will
benefit from a wide range of
support including accessible
academic staff with a wide range
of expertise, laboratory and other
research space, study space and
access to IT and research tools.

Psychology is one of the longest
established academic disciplines
at Keele University having
appointed our first Professor
over 50 years ago. There are
currently approximately 20
full-time academic staff in the
School of Psychology all of whom
