• Biomedical Science • Biological, Biomedical and Life Sciences The Faculty of Natural Sciences Graduate School provides a multidisciplinary environment to support research and enterprise in the Environmental Sciences, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics, Psychology and Life Sciences at Keele University. • Cancer Studies There are over 120 postgraduate researchers in the Graduate School, with research projects across a spectrum of science from fire ecology through medicinal chemistry, applied mathematics and stellar astrophysics to the identification of genes associated with cancer and other diseases. • Diagnostic Science The faculty actively seeks to promote interdisciplinary research synergies and collaboration, both internally and externally, fostering cross and interdisciplinary co-operation across all of Keele’s scientific disciplines. Research Excellence Framework: The Faculty of Natural Sciences performed particularly well during REF2014, with excellent contributions across nine subject areas. Overall, the faculty was judged to have world-leading and internationally important research in all areas, with several world-leading impact case studies. As a result of this excellent performance, total quality related research funding in the faculty increased by 34% compared to the previous year. 11
