russ bellant NAVAJO Resident Historian Runs for City Council by Jan Johnson Russ Bellant is Detroit’s “go to” person to get the facts about the takeover of the schools and finances of the City of Detroit. Bellant believes that Detroit residents deserve a more responsive leadership to address their issues; water shut-offs, drainage fees, insurance rates, tax foreclosures and more. Born and raised in Detroit, Bellant has been active in the community for over 40 years. He intends to tackle those issues when he is elected as a member of City Council in District 3. Russ Bellant is also the Lead Plaintiff in U.S Supreme Court Case Against Gov. Snyder's Emergency Manager Law, Co-Founder; Save Lipke Recreation Center Committee and is a retired City Employee. He believes that in order to restore democracy in Detroit, elected officials must lead the charge against corruption and discrimination. “When I worked in the system, I was very proud of it. I just can’t stand by and watch horrendous injustices occur.” CONT’D
