On m’a offert cet emploi alors que je travaillais comme technicien en câblodistribution à
Kangiqsualujjuaq. J’ai reçu une formation au bureau de la FCNQ à Montréal auprès d’une
équipe de la Fédération spécialisée en TI. J’aime mon emploi et cela fait plus de trois ans que
je travaille comme technicien en TI.

I was offered this job when I was the cable television technician for Kangiqsualujjuaq. I was
trained at the FCNQ office in Montreal with a special team of FCNQ IT. I like the job and I’ve
been working as IT tech for over 3 years now.
Johnny Smiler - Inukjuak
ᔮᓂ ᓯᒣᓚ - ᐃᓄᒃᔪᐊᒥ
Je m’appelle Johnny Smiler Irqumia et je suis technicien en TI pour la FCNQ, en poste à Inukjuak. Je m’intéresse aux ordinateurs depuis que je suis petit garçon. À l’époque, je suivais
ma mère à son travail à Montréal et, les jours de congé, je la suivais à la Commission scolaire
Kativik. C’est là qu’une amie nommée Lucassie Palliser m’a présenté l’un des premiers systèmes MS-DOS, et j‘ai eu la piqûre. Je côtoie des ordinateurs depuis ce temps. J’ai commencé
à faire de l’informatique lorsque j’étais adolescent pour faire un peu d’argent en réparant ou
en construisant des ordinateurs, et je continue de le faire! Aujourd’hui, je suis technicien en
TI pour la FCNQ et, jusqu’à maintenant, c’est une très belle expérience.

My Name is Johnny Smiler Irqumia and I am the IT tech for FCNQ based in Inukjuak. I have
been into computers since I was a small boy who hung around his mom at work in Montreal
and, whenever we had no school, I would follow my mother around while she worked at the
Kativik School Board. That is where a friend, named Lucassie Palliser, introduced me to one
of the first MS-DOS systems. I have been into computers ever since. I first started using computers in my teenage years to generate income repairing and building computers and I still do
so to this day. Now I am an IT tech for the FCNQ and, thus far, it has been a great experience.
