Sophomore year, she decided needed to be different. She had
fallen into a freshmen slump the past year. Her dad came home late at
night smelling like vanilla with a nervous grin as he asked Rebecca about
her day. It upset her that he lied. She knew where he was and who he was
with. He’d stand awkwardly in the living room, trying to be interested
in what Rebecca told him about school and was relieved when Rebecca
finally released him. She didn’t like that he could move on, but she
