a Polska życia nie chce, jesteśmy państwem bardzo
mocno wymierającym”.
Izraelska kuchnia obfituje w aromatyczne przyprawy. Daniami, które warto spróbować, będąc
w Ziemi Świętej, są schawarma – opiekane mięso
halal (zgodne z rytualną dietą muzułmańską) wraz
z surówką (trochę podobne do popularnego w Polsce
kebabu), chleb pita z humusem (pastą z ciecierzycy,
z dodatkiem oliwy), falafel (smażone kotleciki z ciecierzycy) oraz różnego rodzaju ostre sosy.
Moje wyobrażenie o pustyni było takie, jakie kreują
media – piasek i tylko piasek. W rzeczywistości
Pustynia Judzka leżąca na terytorium Ziemi Świętej jest pustynią kamienistą. Izrael jest państwem
niezmiernie kontrastowym, gdyż przejeżdżając do
kolejnej krainy geograficznej, krajobraz zmienia się
diametralnie.
Jerozolima, czyli „święte miasto”. To tu znajduje się
znana nam Ściana Płaczu – święte miejsce Żydów.
Rodziny żydowskie są zazwyczaj wielodzietne. Pięknym obrazem był widok właśnie takiej rodziny, idącej
w szabat pod Ścianę Płaczu. Odświętne stroje sprawiają, że na ulicy można ich bardzo łatwo rozpoznać.
Dzięki tej podróży przekonałam się, że wyznawca
każdej religii jest nadal ukochanym stworzeniem
Bożym. Zrozumiałam, że wszyscy jesteśmy takimi
samymi ludźmi, mimo iż dzielą nas tysiące kilometrów, odmienny wygląd i zupełnie inna religia. Dało
mi to nadzieję, że kiedyś nastanie pokój między
chrześcijaństwem a islamem. Może jest to złudna
nadzieja?

We know that a specific mark of our Congregation
is the fact that divine Providence chose a mother
and her daughter for this task. Hedwig’s role was
not easy. Her personality traits differed from those
of her mother. Independent in thought and judgment and emotionally reserved, at the moment
when she decided to collaborate with her mother,
Hedwig well understood the difficulties and suffering that would be hers. One can only marvel at the
work of the design of eternal Wisdom. The joining
of the hearts and minds of these two souls brought
forth much fruit for the Church.
From the beginning Hedwig placed her relationship to the foundress, (her “twofold Mother,” as she
called her) on a spiritual foundation. This relationship, an occasion for many sacrifices for both of
them, had to be renewed constantly. Hedwig wrote:
“In order not to get caught up in the self, in order
to drive away subjective, natural feelings ... Jesus
demands from us perfect renunciation, surrender
to his will and total purity (from the letter to M.
Celine, May 27, 1894).
As time passed, prayer and cooperation with grace
were able to eradicate this difficulty completely,
while love and dedication to Christ melded the
both of them into one with love for the Congregation. She wrote: Only through experience, through
trials and fire, can one understand the power of
love [I have] for our Congregation. I did not even
expect this in myself! (to M. Celine, May 13, 1902).
This was also connected to her sense of responsibility for the Congregation, rising from the conviction that, beside her Mother, she also had an
important part to play in it, and which had been
