K-OODI Magazine May 2016, Issue 5 | Page 7

Artwork: Prince, Purple Rain by Marvin Blaine. EDITOR'S LETTER April 2016 saw the unexpected death of another legendary, perhaps entirely unparalleled musician - Prince Rogers Nelson. We are gathered here again, to pay respects to another great gone too soon. With the strength of 24 artists, we remember him and his life's work - along with all the moments in our own lives that he, through his contribution to music, magically transformed. In addition, we have wonderful talented artists for you to enjoy: painters Paul Richmond and Christel Roelandt, collage artist Isabel M.Marques. In this issue you will also get to know your editor a little better, through an interview by Suzi Gessert. We have written pieces from our more regular contributor Brian Dale, who tackles depression and heartache, and a short story from another regular contributor Melissa Magdalene. We also have a personal and inspiring story of Rick Bozart, that touches the important topic of homelessness and the power of music. In addition we have moving poetry from Deepali Gupta, and a written piece from me, beautifully illustrated by Jennifer Talbot's painting CaGeD Heart. This is the second issue of 2016, which means there is only one issue left this year. After this year's editions K-oodi Magazine will take a bit of a break due to my personal schedules not allowing me to continue. This doesn't me an the magazine will disappear for good but it is a chance to reflect and to review what has been and what could be in the future. K-oodi Magazine takes a whopping 3-5 months out of my life each year, and this makes it very hard for me to focus on pushing my own career as a visual artist. While I have enjoyed every minute of creating this magazine - well, maybe not every minute - but my time is limited and new solutions need to be considered. As you know I do this without pay. At this very moment, I need to dedicate my time to things that eventually bring bread on the table. I sincerely hope you enjoy this Prince Tribute issue and come back for the last issue of 2016 as well. Due to my schedule, the third issue of 2016 is already under way and should be out well before the year is finished. Kimmo Matias Editor-In-Chief/Creative Director
