I understand that you have your masters degree in
fashion from Domus Academy in Milan, Italy?
Yes, after finishing my Bachelor's degree, I was fortunate
enough to get a place in their Master program. I actually
secured my place before finishing my Bachelor's degree
by succeeding in an international design competition. But I
had to complete my studies in Finland and gather funds
for living costs and tuition f ee. I got a partial scholarship
but I still needed money for living expenses and the rest
of the tuition fee. I secured several grants and I am very
appreciative to each foundation and organization for their
support. The most important was Antti Nurmesniemi
Foundation from whom I got the Antti Nurmesniemi Grant
in 2002. The grant is given annually to one (occasionally
two) promising designers for international studies and/or
internships. Without it, going to Italy would have remained
but a dream.
