discovered it wasn’t the right path for me. I always
enjoyed ilms and so I took production classes in college.
My senior year I had to decide what I wanted to do and
I decided to apply to ilm school on a whim. I got into
CalArts and never looked back.
I love the medium of ilm because it’s so mysterious. It
has this power to transcend itself. It becomes more than
sound and image. When I make ilm, it feels like magic.
K: Is it a job or a passion?
Andrew: I hope that I will never have a job; that for the
rest of my life, I will be blessed enough to practice my
passion every day.
K: What is your biggest goal as a ilmmaker? And
as a person? What is your goal in life?
