In the beginning was the Word
And the Word was with God
And with a word God voiced
the world into being.
That same word voiced
humankind into being
And gave us the gift of words.
But so often words fail us.
Hurting words
Harmful words
Misunderstood words
Forgotten words
Not the gift of words you have
given us.
Take away our fears O God
And let us use words
To heal
To help
To build bridges
To bring hope
Give us the words that we need
And give us the courage to use
The voices you have given us.
Hear us, O Lord we pray.
