While leaving the dock without a
couple slates of pogies is ill advised.
catching your own bait is relatively
simple when fishing out of Venice.
The shore lines offer a vast amount
of real estate for finding schools of
mullet.
When targetting pogies, start looking for massive schools on the
shoreline as soon as you hit the
gulf; also look for pelican dive
bombing.
TIP: If you’re having trouble getting them, try turning the engines off
and drifting. Even turn off your
depth finder. Some of the new chirp
transducer can scare bait.
