The word of God says we should not have fear because the Lord is our light and our salvation---of whom shall we fear? The Lord is the stronghold of our lives---of whom shall we be afraid? Psalm 27:1, but in today’s society sometimes that is easier said than done. With all of the recent school incidents, I must admit one of my biggest fears is something happening to my children while they are away from me. The way I combat this fear is by holding strong to God’s promises and knowing the blood of Jesus protects them. I have shown my children to pray protection over themselves daily and as a mother I make sure to do the same every morning. Some of the scriptures I go to are:

Isaiah 54:17- No weapon formed against (my children) shall prosper.

Ephesians 6:11 – Put on the whole armor of God, that (my children) may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Proverbs 22:6 - Don’t let satan have a pathway to your children. Cover them daily in prayer and continue to train them in the way he/she should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it.

Fear ... what is my greatest fear? There are many things that I'm afraid of… snakes, spiders, drowning, how I will die, being out of control ~ and those are just a few. As I really ponder this question I think my greatest fear would be that I failed as a Mom, that I didn't set a good example, that I didn't train my children up in the way they should go, that ultimately, because of my shortcomings, my children do not follow the Lord. While this is my greatest fear ... it, like most fear, is based on a lie. So how do I overcome? I CHOOSE to stand firm on the word of God! I fight the lies of the enemy on my knees with the full armor protecting me ... and, when I do, He gives me the peace that surpasses all understanding. After all, most fears are False Evidence Appearing Real, knowing that helps me choose to put my faith in the Truth!! The truth that sets me FREE.
