I Beyond the bayou Walking & Hiking "I haven’t quite been around the world, but I’ve been around the block. I haven’t seen all there is to see, but I’ve seen quite a bit." These are words that one of my favorite singers, John Denver, sang in his “Heart to Heart” song. I think that I now know how he felt. As much as I have seen in my lifetime, it would not have been enough without the trip that I just completed. And since it was with my daughter and two of my grandkids, it was a real bonus. California! From the streets of San Francisco to the Redwoods just below Oregon, through the Napa and Sonoma Valleys to the majestic Yosemite Park, we saw it all and will remember it always. If you have a bucket list, then add this trip to it. You can ride along as I relive it by writing about it. Use what I did and didn’t do to make your trip even better. The Golden Gate Bridge in California Parks by Butch Thurmond Marsh & Bayou Magazine Photo’s by Butch Thurmond and Robin Brady >>> The Golden Gate Bridge as seen from the north end. Don’t drive across and back! Park and walk until you are ready to travel north. The toll booth does not accept cash! Fog is always a problem. Enjoy it by taking a bus to the park on the south side.
