and grateful, they are all
so inspiring. We strapped
mattresses to the buses and
slept in churches along the
way. It was so wonderful,”

The mission statement that
resonates so deeply with John
and Carrie is “healing the
world one child at a time.” This
statement is drawn from three
different ideas:
• Martin Luther King Jr.:
We have a dream, which is
where it all begins.
• Be the change Mahatma
Gandhi: It is important to
improve as a human race so
that we can be an example
for the kids.
• The power of one,
Mother Teresa: The
idea that all progress is
incremental. Mother Teresa
believed that she couldn’t
do everything, but she
could do one thing, she
could help one child.
It’s a trickle affect; it all starts
with one thing. When you
do that, there are wonderful
people that follow with
matching donations and
participation.

John and Carrie are having a fundraising event on
August 11th, 2016, featuring Charles Coldman, founder
of the African Promise. Charles dedicates his life work
to improve the quality of education and is currently
building another school in Africa. He is here to support
John and Carrie in their efforts to do the same.
