Two souls are held prisoner in the shadow of a Devil of their own making –the subconscious of the human mind.
Held fast by the almost invisible tendrils of self-defeating thoughts, actions, and bad behaviors they unwittingly create their own personal Devil that will alter their perception of themselves and the world around them.
What is a Devil if not the shadow side of ourselves that we would rather not face? Those shadow aspects of our personalities that we suppress or deny or project onto others and reject as a part of our own psyche. Carl Jung said, “The shadow personifies everything that the subject refuses to acknowledge about himself.”
Only by recognizing and acknowledging these undesirable traits, can they be understood and managed. As long as we deny and suppress them we remain chained to them. With courage and understanding these shadow-demons can be faced and will no longer have the ability to tie us up or hold us back. Restriction, fears, and self-destructive behaviors can then be shed, and we are free to continue on our journey for inner peace and growth as a more whole person.
