Why is listening to our intuition important?

So why is listening to intuition important? Intuition is what helps us be ‘at one’ with our surroundings. It helps us understand who we are and what our purpose is. It helps us connect to our environment, to other people and to our inner selves. Consider what starts out as a normal day – you get up, wash your face, prepare for the day and leave the house for work. You are driving along a busy road and for some reason have a feeling to slow down, so do. At that moment a drunk driver runs through a stop sign, narrowly missing you. Your intuition saving you from collision. If you did not trust in your own ‘feelings’ what could have happened? What about if you are walking home after a night out, you begin to feel uneasy. There is nothing obvious around you, but you choose to pay more attention to your surroundings, you stick to the brighter areas of the streets and you get home safe. Was there something there? Perhaps by trusting this instinct, you saved yourself from being the prey of a predator. Perhaps it was nothing, but if you don’t listen to your intuition, you begin to put yourself at risk.

How can we tap into our intuition?

Your intuition might speak to you through bringing up a memory or a moment of your life. Think about what that memory could mean and what relevance it has to what is currently going on in your life. It may also come forth as a remembrance of a scene from a film you have seen. Take some time to think of what image you may be remembering or seeing in your spiritual sight (often referred to as the third eye). See if this imagine can help guide you, inform you or bring you insight. These mental pictures can help you to make sense of what is going on, or provide you with a hunch.
