collection was announced on their blog : “ Marrying tradition with innovation ( because isn ’ t that so the British way ?), every piece has been lovingly crafted in the heart of London ’ s East End to create a capsule collection that even the Queen herself would be proud of . From slick , utilitarian outerwear in the finest wool , tweeds and cashmere to sumptuous silk separates in graphic and floral prints : think pure , unadulterated luxury that exudes true British heritage .” But even though this is a step forward , do young consumers want this ? Or to put it in a blunter way ; do they even care ?
To find out peoples thoughts on this ongoing case I conducted a survey , asking our young people of society what they think about the stigma associated with manufacture and does it really matter at all to them . Out of everyone who took the survey , not one person said that whether a product was made in Britain would definitely affect their decision to purchase , with only 28 % saying it only sometimes affected their choice . A whopping 72 % said it didn ’ t matter to them at all , which makes me wonder ; have we got used to overseas manufacture to the point of no return ?
However , things changed when people were asked whether British brands should promote manufacture in the UK more , with 60 % of people saying yes ; showing we still believe it should be showcased and celebrated . When it comes to quality , it seems people do think Britain is still best with 80 % of people saying that a British made product is better quality than it ’ s international counterpart ; so whether we like it or not , some people are still buying on the account of where things are made . The recent boom of products being manufactured in the UK seems to be continue to grow and develop , creating more jobs and generating more opportunities for the new generation of consumers and also young creators .
