KEEP CALM AND CARRY ME

HEMSLEY LONDON

How do you deal with the stress of fashion week ?
If you do something that you enjoy you really dont feel it , you just have to believe in yourself and you can do it .
What is your favourite season to design for S / S or A / W ?
I love the contrast between them , its refreshing the play with colour and weights for SS and the textures and heavier more exotic skins for AW .
What is new for Hemsley London this summer ?
We are launching our first capsule mens collection through a collaboration with a menswear designer to be announced at LCM next month ..
What is your favourite thing to do in your spare time when you are not busy planning your next big move ?
I love to go back home to the Midlands and touching back down with old friends and family . Birmingham itself is a very industrial town which completely captivated me and its also where I feel most at home .
When did you know you wanted to become a bag design ?
Its something that I really didnt plan on , it all started from a doodle a couple of summers ago , I built the rough shape from some cereal boxes I had in my cupboard and a few months later I was showing at Lfw - it all happened very fast .
Who is your favourite designer or icon ?
Internationally there are so many brands now offering amazing products now , its impossible to choose just one designer .. Comfort is always a priority for me so quality brands that mix up sports wear cuts sit just right . I really take a mix from such a wide variety of sources , mainly based on everyday lifestyle supposed to looking at individuals .
How do you keep your ideas fresh and different with each of your collections ?
People . The way that people adapt and function in everyday life really inspires me , we have evolved this far , its just a case of what needs to happen next . Now we are developing technologically the possibilities to merge fashion and technology are endless .
