FESTIVAL OF LOVE AT SOUTHBANK ' FEEL THE LOVE ' Saturday 28 June 2014 - Sunday 31 August 2014
Southbank sets the mood for love , as they host a festival which celebrates love over the summer . The festival is set over a a period of two months , which brings hundreds of artists , communities and lovers together . Each weekend has a different theme that explores the seven types of human love . Agape – love of humanity ; Ludus- flirting and playful affection ; Eros – a romantic : philautia- self love ; Storge- love of family : Philia- shared experience ; and Pragma- love which endures . These are the seven types of human love , which the southbank love festival will show love in all its shades and complexities , as each week will be themed accordingly . This festival is a celebration of all types of love even same sex couples , which feature free events from performances , poetry , talks , pop- ups and installations .
RIDE LONDON 9th August and 10 August 2014
The Prudential RideLondon is a annual two-day festival where cyclists will begin the 100 mile challenge starting at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park . RideLondon will be a weekend event , which will be held on 9th August and 10 August 2014 . This event allows amateur cyclists to use the same route as 150 worlds top cycling athletes competing . Not only is it for the cyclist , but it is also an amazing atmosphere where bystanders , cyclist fanatics can watch and cheer on loved ones or support top athletes . Many say that one day the Prudential RideLondon will be as big as the London Marathon in the future . There never has been a better reason to jump on your bike and give cycling a go .
NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL Sunday August 24 - Monday August 25 2014
Every year the streets of West London come alive , with the sounds and smells of Europe ’ s biggest street festival , Notting Hill Carnival . Since 1964 the capital ' s Afro-Caribbean communities have celebrated their culture and traditions with a two-day festival of fantastic live music ranging from reggae to dub to salsa , soca floats , steel bands , uplifting beats , jerk chicken and fried plantain food stalls , and much more . Expect a sea of colour as amazing floats and costumed performers wind their way through the streets of London . Whether you want to join in the fun or simply watch the crowds go by , don ' t miss the chance to be part of one of London ' s biggest and best annual events , to see 50,000 performers and 40 sound systems . Around 2.5 million people attend over the Carnival weekend .
