What do your friends think about your style? Have you ever had any negative reactions to the way you dress? Largely, people are very complimentary. I have a few friends who don’t understand it, and I get a few heckles in the street, but usually people are positive. There’s been some lovely people who remember that era and tell me how nice it is to see a young person dressing so classically Though, I did go on a date once with a lad who said that he still fancied me even though I reminded him of his Grandma, which was a bit of a turn-off... Does your love of this era extend to the way you live your life or your moral views? Not really. I still believe in being polite and respecting people who deserve my respect and I enjoy certain ‘old-fashioned’ things like baking, but there are certain societal and political aspects of the 40s and 50s that I don’t agree with. I love the eras, but I think I would have a hard time adjusting were I to hop in a TARDIS and live there. If you could be any style icon from history, who would you be? Jane Russell! Without any hesitation. I just adore her. And my Nana Judith. I love looking at old photos of her from the 50s. Imagine if you were transported back to the 40s, what would you get up to? I’d be in the WAAF, I think. Or in some village pub somewhere, dancing to Moonlight Serenade in the arms of a handsome serviceman, home on leave! 28 Dress - Primark, £15 Blouse - Joy, £36 Skirt - Vivien Of Holloway, £45 Shoes - Modcloth, £21.80 Bag - ilovevintage, £45 Lipstick - Mac in Lady Danger, £15 40s hit the high street It might not be ‘real’ vintage, but the stamp of the mid 20th century era can be found everywhere on the high street for Autumn/Winter.
