Lose weight if you are overweight. Your kidneys will function
most efficiently when you are at a healthy weight. Eat smaller
portions, eat healthier foods such as fruits and vegetables more
often, and begin an exercise program. Exercise can consist of
walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, or any activity that gets
your body moving each day.

Quit smoking if you are a smoker. Smoking can result in
elevated blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease and stroke,
none of which are beneficial to healthy kidneys.
