CELEBRATING OUR PHYSICIANS
This year , two JBH physicians were recognized by their professional peers in the Halton County Medical Society for their outstanding contributions to our hospitals , communities and profession . Dr . Larry Komer was presented with the Physicians Care Award and Dr . Arinder Malik was the recipient of the annual Laurel Award .

Exceptional Leadership

This year , we have welcomed four new Vice Presidents ( VP ) to our Senior Team :
Senior VP Susan Wannamaker joined JBH after holding a variety of leadership positions within the Vancouver Coastal Health . Susan has both a Masters of Healthcare Administration and Credential of Advanced Studies in Health Services Administration from the University of Minnesota , as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta . During her first year at JBH , Susan has provided exceptional leadership and a focus on building the Patient Experience , establishing best operational practices and developing creative strategies to evolve program goals and clinical service delivery excellence .
Our VP of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Executive , Cheryl Williams , RN ., Ph . D ., C . H . E , joined JBH last spring after eight years as the VP of Acute
Care at Rouge Valley Health System . Cheryl is passionate about Quality , Safety , and Service and over her year at JBH she has provided exceptional leadership , supporting clinical leaders with best practices and processes while encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration to advance patient care . Cheryl also introduced Gemba Time and using LEAN methodologies to enhance patient care .
This winter , Nancy Casselman began as the VP of Human Resources , coming from Toronto East General Hospital , where she spent 10 years as the Director , Human Resources & Organizational Quality , Safety & Wellness . Nancy holds a Masters of Industrial Relations and Human Resources and is a Certified Emotional Intelligence Trainer . Nancy has brought leadership and expertise to advance strategies to ensure we are an employer of choice .
This spring , Dee ( Deepani ) Perera joined as VP of Finance & Corporate Support Services and Chief Financial Officer from Woodstock Hospital where she was VP Finance and Chief Financial Officer . Dee is a Certified Professional Accountant , has a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University and is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers . We are excited for the expertise and leadership Dee contributes to the hospital ’ s strategic vision .
Our four new senior executive members join Eric Vandewall , President & CEO , Mario Joannette , VP of Communications and Public Affairs and Anissa Hilborn , President JBH Foundation . Together the new senior team is building the future of our hospital .
CELEBRATING OUR STAFF : JOG , BIKE , HIKE
In September , JBH celebrated its first annual family and friends ’ picnic , held at Confederation Park . The day encouraged the building of new relationships with all members of the JBH family and community through the enjoyment of a picnic that included face painting , balloon artist , live band , BBQ and physical activities like walking , cycling and jogging .
