The dyeing of the Easter eggs begins with the distribution of ornamental fields all over the egg with different lines. These lines are mapped with warm wax which is draining from the top of the quill cover some white parts of the egg. The egg is introduced in a yellow bath, then it is pulled out from it and placed somewhere to get dry. Now the egg is ready to be painted with the yellow color, then with red and at the end with black or another dark color. In the end the egg gets dry and the wax lines are removed.

Everybody in Romania paints Easter eggs but the way they paint them is different in every region of the country. In Muntenia and Oltenia the eggs are painted more naturally, with fewer colors, Oboga being the most popular place where you can learn how to paint eggs in Oltenia. From Moldova, travelling north, you can discover that the eggs are painted more and more colorfully with lots of models on them. Famous in Moldova are the eggs dyed at SuceviĆŁa, a monastery. In Transilvania and Banat we find a huge variety of shapes, patterns and colors.
