// CENTRAL FLORIDA AIRPORTS One of the most attractive aspects of Central Florida for businesses and residents alike is its connectivity. There are three international airports servicing the region, and many regional and executive airports that increase access to central Florida. These airports act not only as the region’s gateway to the world, but also as significant economic drivers; further, improvements are continuously being made to ensure Central Florida remains competitive in the future. • ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Orlando International is the 15th busiest airport in the country and second busiest in Florida, servicing nearly 36.0 million passengers per year, a figure that has increased 3.2 percent since 2010. Moreover, Orlando is the 5th busiest airport in terms of O&D passengers, meaning Greater Orlando was their final destination. The Airport is responsible for 18,000 jobs in the region, and has an economic impact of $31.0 billion on Central Florida. That impact is getting expanded, as the Airport is currently undergoing a $1.1 billion expansion and renovation, the largest project in the airport’s history. The project includes improvements to increase capacity and efficiency, as well as transportation. It was recently announced that improvements to the People Mover Complex and intermodal transit facility will be underway, which will not only increase accessibility to the Airport, but will also connect to the planned All Aboard Florida high speed rail line, which will further increase connectivity to the region. • TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Located just 90 miles from downtown Orlando, Tampa International is the second largest airport servicing the region. Last year 17.6 million passengers flowed through the Airport, up 2.4 percent from the previous year. Though not directly tied to Orlando, Tampa International provides access to the region, and is ۙHو
