// CENTRAL FLORIDA AIRPORTS
One of the most attractive aspects of Central Florida for businesses
and residents alike is its connectivity. There are three international
airports servicing the region, and many regional and executive
airports that increase access to central Florida. These airports act
not only as the region’s gateway to the world, but also as significant
economic drivers; further, improvements are continuously being
made to ensure Central Florida remains competitive in the future.
• ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Orlando International
is the 15th busiest airport in the country and second busiest
in Florida, servicing nearly 36.0 million passengers per year,
a figure that has increased 3.2 percent since 2010. Moreover,
Orlando is the 5th busiest airport in terms of O&D passengers,
meaning Greater Orlando was their final destination. The Airport
is responsible for 18,000 jobs in the region, and has an economic
impact of $31.0 billion on Central Florida. That impact is getting
expanded, as the Airport is currently undergoing a $1.1 billion
expansion and renovation, the largest project in the airport’s
history. The project includes improvements to increase capacity
and efficiency, as well as transportation. It was recently announced
that improvements to the People Mover Complex and intermodal
transit facility will be underway, which will not only increase
accessibility to the Airport, but will also connect to the planned
All Aboard Florida high speed rail line, which will further increase
connectivity to the region.
• TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Located just 90 miles from
