Table trends I

As Rosh Hashanah comes closer
and the smell of all the delicious
sweet dishes cooking in my
kitchen come to mind, I know
it’s time to start planning my
dinner. A new year is approaching and my soul is getting ready
for Rosh Hashanah.
Ten people, 15 people, 22… the list
keeps growing, Baruch Hashem. I go to
my crockery cupboard and start digging
out all of my special décor items that I
keep for special yomim tovim. But, do I
have enough crockery, cutlery, décor?
Okay, I’m not stressing. This year, I’m going to make it look stunning without going
shopping, so into the storage boxes I go. I
find my mom’s old tea set. Wow, it still looks
beautiful. A little bit of a polish with toothpaste (the quickest way to get silver clean in
a rush) and it looks new again. I take tea
cups and saucers from my dinner set and fill
them with stunning red roses. In my garden, I find beautiful red berries and cacti.
They’ll look striking in the tea set, mixed on
the table with green and red apples.
TIP:
Make apples look
nice and shiny –
take a little oil on a
serviette and wipe
over the apple
I pull out my special gold dinner service, crystal glasses, and cutlery. How I
love to use my special items to welcome in
the New Year! I will add gold serviettes to
enhance the table and make it look really
special.
Thank you, Hashem, for blessing us
with all this natural beauty so that we can
bring in the New Year with a table fit for a
king. Shana tova umetuka! JL
