Holiday time
people were amazing, not to mention
Stan and Pete’s incredible array of meals,
and the amazing Fihrer family.”
These community members realised
this was their way to show love and support for their Israeli brethren, and the
outpouring of love was quite remarkable.
Shereen Fihrer and family hosted a
Bnei Akiva function that gave the No
Worries Tour a truly unforgettable night.
The vibe was unbelievable, there were
about 250 people at this dinner-disco,
and it was so meaningful for the Israeli
group to connect with kids their own age.
The group loved day three, when they
visited Yeshiva College, because they got
to reconnect with many of the kids who
were at the function the previous night.
The No Worries teens spoke about their
experiences, and Cheryl Harton-Hortinsky from Yeshiva College organised incredible gift bags that were presented to
each member of the group. The No Worries Tour was also hosted by King David
Linksfield, and both schools showed their
solidarity and support. The school visits
were followed by a delicious lunch at Michelos, where the kids were treated to
Gary’s delicious pizzas, and then the afternoon was filled with helicopter rides
made possible by Zev Krengel. Three helicopters flew around Johannesburg, giving the No Worries Tour a chance to see
the city of gold from above. They got to
see the stadiums and the goldmines and
it was a very special part of the trip, because four days is not very much time to
cover the grounds. So the helicopters
gave them that view from above the
buzzing beauty of the Jozi metropolis.

Following that, dinner with members of
the Beitar movement included some fun
games and activities.
Day four was the last day of the tour,
which included a trip to Gold Reef City
and an incredible lunch spread at the
home of Judy Moritz.
Short, but oh so sweet, the No Worries
Tour participants left South Africa feeling
absolutely pampered, with Meirav’s signature gift bag for each participant. South
African branded designer Robyn Ruth bags
filled with Tomato watches, sunglasses
from the Wedge optometrists (with personalised No Worries branded cases),
beautiful brand new clothing items, not to
mention chocolates, sweets, t-shirts and
high quality earphones. “Its difficult to describe the generosity of the South African
community, but to give you an idea, Lana
Meltzer dropped off 10 boxes filled
with incredible items to give the No
Worries kids,” says Meirav.
It was a fitting reward for a group of
teens who had organised entertainment,
activities and meals for younger children
who were meant to be enjoying their
school holidays when war broke out.
These madrichim made sure the children
of their communities were safe and had
fun things to occupy their time, as deadly
rockets rained down, leaving them under
high alert or in bomb shelters.
The No Worries teens selflessly gave of
themselves during the war, guiding and
caring for younger children in their communities, and so, to show their solidarity
and support, the South African Jewish
community showered them with warmth
and generosity, making sure this group of
young adults had four days filled with
amazing gifts and incredible experiences,
and of course, No Worries. JL
