We spend around R6 million per year, split quite equally, on three categories of education: Jewish nursery, primary and high school: We provide a monthly contribution towards the school fees of children whose families we are supporting and often are able to negotiate subsidies with the schools. To date, in 2015, we are assisting 137 students across the Jewish day schools. Remedial: By and large these are not Jewish schools and don’t offer discounted fees. They don’t have to – they have long waiting lists for admission year after year. Right now, the Chev is assisting the families of 73 remedial school children. Where parents are unable to afford anything towards remedial education, we will undertake full responsibility. Tertiary: On average, 100 students a ɔ
