How do you see the current state of the male jewellery market?
KEN BROWN MARTIN KATZ JULIA WATSON
UK area manager of Nomination founder of of Martin Katz Jewellery founder and designer of Tribe+Fable
The sale of men’s jewellery continues to grow
for Nomination and although our range is unisex
the ranges that are predominately purchased by
men are up by over 30%. Many of our men’s
collections are manufactured using high quality
stainless steel and I think this is an added appeal
to all ages and we see no reason why the
market will not continue to grow. I see the male jewellery market as ever
changing, but in small, inconspicuous
increments when compared to the more
drastic changes characteristic of the female
jewellery market. Having said that, I have
noticed that the male jewellery market in
general is growing with a boost in sales of
our statement cufflinks. For me the male jewellery market is a difficult one
to get right. I feel that men like to keep it really
simple. They wear their good watch, a signet ring/
wedding ring and very little else. Even if they have
a bracelet or necklace it tends to be a classic one
they wear all the time and change very little. The
need for men to change their accessories regularly
just isn’t there.
