10 EDITOR’S LETTER Welcome... o the Spring issue of JETSETTER, the experiential travel magazine for Asia Pacific. As an editor, I have to admit that the Spring issue, the first issue of each year, is my favourite. At the beginning of each year we compile out Bucket List feature, a brilliant cross-section of new and unique experiences that have grabbed our attention. From camping on the ice, to chasing the Northern Lights, we are sure they’ll also grab yours. That said, the 2013 Bucket List is just one of a great line up of features in this issue. We welcome the summer months with the locals in Barcelona; follow our tastebuds through the maze of stalls in Taipei’s top food markets; check out luxurious digs in Bali; and check into the hotels of the worl d’s top fashion designers. We also explore the remote tribes and idyllic island communities of Papua New Guinea with Orion Expeditions, and see how Russia’s cultural capital maintains the balance between its rich heritage and its promising future. JETSETTER isn’t just about places. It’s also about the people who make them so unique, from acclaimed wildlife photographer Sue Flood, who talks snappy sea lions and adventure cruising; to Philadelphia’s chef Kevin Sbraga, who tackles the evolution of American cuisine. We meet with Marc & Mia Skvorc, founders of Finland’s chic hotel Klaus K, and delve into the Parisian arts scene with Domoina de Brantes, Arts Concierge at Le Royal Monceau Raffles hotel. Of course, in every issue we also cover aspects of the JETSETTER lifestyle, from young Vinho Verde wines from the north or Portugal, to San Francisco’s No. 209 gin, the new face of an ancient spirit. We also get behind the wheel of the new Maserati GranTurismo Sport, explore the armed gangs of Port Moresby in our Page Turner section, and check out hot new dining options across Asia Pacific. Wherever you’re travelling, and for whatever reason, we look forward to JETSETTER and its bi-weekly e-newsletter JETSETTER Online serving as the ultimate experiential guides for world wanderers looking for more. Safe travels. T Nick Walton Managing Editor Contributors Master of Wine Debra Meiburg is a celebrated wine journalist, TV personality, wine educator and in-demand speaker.
