CHURCH
strengthening
Established churches also need encouragement and support to
continue to thrive in their communities. Funds given to the Jerusalem
Project have enabled Calvary to come alongside of Glyfada Church in
Athens, Greece; Trinity Church in Oxford England; and a number of
churches in the West Michigan area. One way the Jerusalem Project
is blessing an established church is by helping Josh and Katie Mateer
move into the work that God has for them at New Hope Church in
Rockford. The Jerusalem Project also funded an intern for Glyfada
Church and enabled their long-serving pastor to get a much needed
vacation. We have come alongside of Trinity Church to support them
as they go through some difficult waters. The Jerusalem Project
provided funds and practical support for Balint and Marta Bacskai,
a Hungarian pastor, that will allow them to be at Calvary for three
months on their first sabbatical after 16 years of ministry.
In 2019, the Jerusalem Project is helping to fund a trip to Israel
for local pastors and their wives. Comprised of leadership from
many of the churches Calvary has planted in West Michigan, the
trip will be a time of teaching to enhance their ministry, as well as
an opportunity to provide rest, refreshment and encouragement. We
are also continuing to work to form an informal network of churches
working together to build God’s Kingdom in Grand Rapids.
